Douglas David

Born 1971, Seattle Washington

Born in Seattle in December of 1971 to established artists, Joe David and Sandra Tuifua, Douglas David has been artistically inclined his whole life. David is of the Nuu-chah-nulth nation on his father’s side and the Sioux Dakota nation on his mother’s side.

David’s father, an established Master Carver, gave him carving instructions before the age of ten, and his mother initially guided him through the promotion of his art. Together they traveled to various fairs and Powwows around North America. These early years taught Douglas much about the art business and gave him an opportunity to gain inspiration to further his artistic repertoire.

Although his ability to create works in many styles is evident, his art demonstrates an affinity and mastery of Nuu-chah-nulth style carving.
