Appraisals

All purchases from Douglas Reynolds Gallery over $1000 (before taxes) come with a complimentary appraisal.

We also offer insurance appraisals on Northwest Coast art pieces in your collection. If you would like an appraisal, we will need some information from you:

  • Image of the artwork
  • Dimensions of the artwork
  • Any information you have on the artwork (artist, providence, etc.)
  • Name to be included on appraisal
  • Address to be included on appraisal

Appraisal Pricing

Appraisals for individual artworks generally cost around $75 (plus tax). Depending on the amount of research required to determine a valuation, the cost of an individual appraisal may be higher (for example, an appraisal for an extremely rare or unusual piece). In this case, we will provide you with a price prior to moving forward with the appraisal process.

For appraisals of multiple works or entire collections, we offer group pricing that is dependent upon the number of works and the complexity of the appraisals. For appraisals of larger collections, on-site consultation services are available for an additional charge that is dependent on location and size of the collection.

We do not appraise works valued under $1000 and will let you know if your artwork falls in this category.

As a registered appraiser, Douglas Reynolds Gallery is not able to provide ‘ballpark’ valuations and must follow the appraisal guidelines and provide appropriate documentation.

Canadian Cultural Properties Appraisals (CCP)

Douglas Reynolds is a member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC) and is registered with the Government of Canada to complete appraisals for museum donations. Some clients require Canadian Cultural Properties Appraisals for tax purposes that are much more involved, and fees for this service vary.
